Judgement in George Kunda election petition set for April 4

Lusaka High Court Judge Mugeni Mulenga has set April 4 as judgment day for the Muchinga Constituency election petition case.

This involves former Vice President George Kunda and losing Patriotic Front candidate John Chama who petitioned the election results in the September 20 tripartite elections.

Losing Patriotic Front candidate John Chama is petitioning the election results of the September 20 general elections which saw former vice president George Kunda declared winner and Member of Parliament for Muchinga Constituency.

Justice Mulenga has also set January 27, 2012 as the date for submissions and February 7, 2012 as the date for responses.

And former Vice President George Kunda today admitted that he made a number of donations of hammer mills, bicycles and cheques not only in his constituency but throughout the country in his capacity as Vice President.

He also said that the September 20 general elections were free and fair.

Mr. Kunda concluded his defence on Monday.
