Nakonde January 25, 2012, ZANIS — JUDICIARY workers in Nakonde district in Muchinga Province have joined other workers in the country in a sit-in protest to press for increased salaries and improved conditions of service.
The sit-in protest has paralyzed operations at the Judiciary in Nakonde with no court sittings both for the magistrate and the local courts.
Acting Judiciary Allied Workers Union of Zambia (JAWUZ) acting Muchinga provincial chairperson Catherine Katwizi has confirmed the development in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Nakonde today.
Ms. Katwizi said the sit-in protest which started today is also meant to fight for increased housing allowances for judicial workers among other needs.
She said the sit-in protest in Muchinga Province follows a communication from the union president Mr.Peter Mwale who has urged judicial workers countrywide to fight for better conditions.
She said workers have suffered for a long time addig that it is time that that the Government considered seriously the plight of the judicial workers in the country.
