The under 23 junior Chipolopolo have opened the CAF under 23 Championship in Senegal on a poor note losing 2-1 to Tunisia.
The North Africans drew first blood hitting the back of the Zambian net through Haithem Jouini in the 4th minute.
The Zambians replied in the 15th minute through Ronald Kampamba closing the first half at 1-1.
The game appeared to be headed for a draw but in the 84th minute Haithem Jouini was on target again through a close range header after connecting a cross from Bguir Saad.
Zambia are in group A and will now try to redeem the loss when they meet regional rivals South Africa in their next assignment before closing the group A fixtures against hosts Senegal.
Eight teams are competing in the championships and the top three teams will qualify for the 2016 Brazil Olympics.
Zambia last featured at the Olympics in 1988 and made history when they beat Italy 4-0 and reached the quarter finals.
Most Zambian fans however missed the game due to electricity load shedding by ZESCO.
