Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) chairperson Justice Florence Mumba has resigned.
The Watchdog understands that Justice Mumba wrote a letter of resignation to president Rupia Banda today, Thursday morning.
The letter was delivered to Sstate House in nthe morning but it would appear that president Banda had already left State House for the Copperbelt.
He has therefore not yet indicated if he has accepted the departure of the Supreme Court Justice who has been forced to quit to due alleagtions of corruption.
The resignation of Justice Mumba follows allegations of fraud and corruption against her and two other commissioners of the ECZ.
The commissioners had corruptly awarded a tender worth K1 billion to their preferred audit firm without following tender procedure.
