Former President Rupiah Banda convinced former Vice President Enoch Kavindele’s sons to withdraw criminal complaints against State house gunman Kaizer Zulu so that President Edgar Lungu does not fire him. Kaizer compensated the Kavindeles K100,000 and they have been assured of some corrupt business contracts.
According to our State house source, Lungu had made up his mind to fire Kaizer when he returns from New York but this unsettled Rupiah because Kaizer is one of his agents at State house. Kaizer is reported to have gone to plead with Banda so that he can talk to the Kavindeles and their father.
“The President has made up his mind, Kaizer would go but you know he is RB’s agent to push corruption and also to monitor the President on behalf of RB. This is what made RB to make sure that the boys get the K100,000 plus they have also been assured of contracts through Kaizer. Otherwise he may be fired when the boss comes as he appoints the other ministers for the new ministries,” he said.
Kaizer opened fire at Enoch Kavindele Jr after a beer dispute over a woman and police arrested him for threatening violence with a fire arm. Kavindele senior later complained that Kaizer wanted to kill his children and demanded that he be charged with attempted murder but while police were figuring out, the Kavindeles wrote a letter to withdraw the matter on 29th September.
