Hello ba watchdog,
I just learned of the new market prices as released by FRA. 60 kwacha for a 50 kg as the purchase price for white maize.
This is a reduction from 85 kwacha that was last year’s price and soya beans at 120 kwacha per 50 kg . I feel it is unfair to let the market dictate market prices especially that input prices are way too high. Fertiliser was K400. According to some information I got from an unofficial source, I was told that FRA offloaded its reserves in April to the millers which has also contributed to the low prices because the millers have plenty of maize in their warehouses. The plan here I think is to have a reduction in mealie meal prices which only benefits the people in urban areas at the expense of the farmer. I feel you cant help unearth this scam
Farmers deserve to know how much they’ll sell their produce prior to the farming season not after harvest.
