Former PF Secretray General Wynter Kabimba was on Friday in central province to
strengthen the Fred M’membe cartel’s interests in imposing a preferred successor to deceased President Michael Sata.
While the central province administration was officially launching the book of condolences at the administration offices, Kabimba was in town meeting with selected PF cadres at a named private lodge. Among those who attended the meeting were PF Bwacha constituency chairman Saidi Chibwana with his Kabwe central counterpart George Kambaki, Kabwe district chairman Mulenga Kabwe and some selected constituency officials from Bwacha and Kabwe central constituencies.
Later the Kabwe district chairman Mulenga Kabwe isuued a statement to the local KNC
radio denouncing the Lusaka youths who are protesting against Acting President Guy Scott. Kabimba who was said to have driven to the copperbelt also met central province PF chairman Benson Chali and a few officials from Mkushi and Kapiri districts at Unity Motel in Kapiri Mposhi.
A serious battle of succession is looming in the ruling party. M’membe and Kabimba’s cartel at the moment are in control of government but the other camp comprising ministers Chishimba Kambwili, Alexander Chikwanda and secretary general Edgar lungu want to use the party’s highest organ, the central committee to float a successor. The PF central committee is composed of ten provincial chairmen and other chaimen of committees.
