Kabompo council has no utility vehicles

Kabompo district council has been running without any utility vehicles, Acting District Commissioner, Febby Kilele  has disclosed but local government deputy minister Forie Tembo says this is when government will consider sending one or two vehicles.

Tembo made the promise when he addressed council workers in the council chamber in Kabompo yesterday.

However, Tembo urged district council managements in the province to be budgeting for utility vehicles and income generating projects such as lodges or buses when presenting their budgets to the ministry of local government and housing each year in order to broaden their revenue base since most councils have low revenue base.

Most of the district councils in the country have been facing operational challenges but instead of addressing the current districts’ problems, ailing dicatator Michael Sata has continued to declare more districts, making it difficult for the local government to budget properly.
