Peoples Pact Forum Chairperson Colonel Panji Kaunda has said Zambia Police(ZP) Inspector General Francis Kabonde has not lived up to his word as he has failed to order the arrest of those perpetrating violence.
Kaunda noted that the failure by police to apprehend individuals who initiated the violent acts that took place last weekend in Chongwe is a clear indication that the law enforcement officers are siding with certain political parties.
He urged President Rupiah Banda to not only talk to the party cadres but ensure he puts measure in place to curb the vice.
Meanwhile, Hope for Human Rights Director Smart Chanda challenged Kabonde to tell the nation whether the individuals who were in uniform in Chongwe last Saturday were Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) cadres or trained police officers.
Chanda said he cannot understand why the law enforcement officers in the area only looked on and did nothing to stop the fracas that was allegedly started by MMD cadres.
