Information has emerged that the robbery which took place at Kabwe’s Puma central filling station Barclays Bank ATM was staged and over K1.2m was stolen but three suspects have been apprehended and will appear in court.
Central province police commissioner Standwell Lungu, whose command has come under attack for increased armed robberies in the area told the media that two guards from G4 security company connived with another guard from Armaguard who ‘attacked’ them with a toy gun and ‘overpowered’ them before going with the money.
Lungu said the guards have since been apprehended and will appear in court on Monday, but contradicted himself when he said that K1,288,090.000 was stolen. Earlier he told the media that only K20,000 was stolen. Lungu has not stated how much has been recovered from the robbery.
