Kaingu and Chituwo elected MMD vice-presidents

The opposition MMD has elected Dr. Michael Kaingu MP and Dr. Brian Chituwo MP as the two vice-presidents of the former ruling party.

A source within the MMD national executive committee has told the Watchdog that Dr. Chituwo went through unopposed while Dr. Kaingu got 23 votes against Muhabi Lungu who polled 11 and Lucky Mulusa who got 3 votes.

The two will deputise party president Dr. Nevers Mumba who was elected party president early this year.

The former ruling party amended the constitution to allow for two vice-presidents.

Other MMD NEC positions filled are Kabinga Pande-National Chairman, Newton Samakayi-Local Government, Canisius Banda-Health, Elizabeth Chitika – Arts, Bradford Machila-Legal, Faustina Sinyangwe-Labour, Winny Zaloumis- Youth Secretary and Tobias Kafumukache-Vice Youth Secretary
