Kaingu says govt won’t re-open UNZA, CBU due to social media postings

Minister of Higher Education Michael Kaingu says government will not reopen the University of Zambia and the Copperbelt University because of the social media postings by students against government.
But Kaingu has also disclosed that the PF government is still looking for money to pay student allowances.
He alleged that it was clear that students are not remorseful as exhibited by some postings on social media and wants them to apologise to the PF government as it looks for money to pay them.
Kaingu told the PF controlled ZNBC on Monday that students should remain calm as government looks for money to pay their meal allowances.
It is not clear how student postings on social media are blocking the PF government from ‘looking’ for money for their allowances.
Meanwhile, PF Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga Chanda said the police have information that parents on the Copperbelt are planning a demonstration to pressure government to open the two universities.
