The Kitwe High Court has today ruled that United Party for National Development (UPND’s) Charles Kakoma was duly elected as Zambezi West Member of Parliament.
Passing judgment in Kitwe, Kitwe High Court Judge Judith Mulongoti said the court did not find facts on the alleged bribery, intimidation of voters and defamation of President Michael Sata as petitioned by losing Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Christabel Ngimbu.
This was in a case were Ms. Ngimbu petitioned the election of Charles Kakoma as Zambezi West UPND Member of Parliament in the September 2011 tripartite elections.
And speaking in an interview with ZANIS shortly after winning the election petition, Mr. Kakoma praised judge Mulongoti for exhibiting a lot of objectivity in the judgment.
He further called for more professionalism in the country’s judicial system for it to maintain its integrity.
