Minister Kalaba imposes cousin as Luapula chief

Foreign Affairs minister Harry Kalaba has been accused of meddling in and sponsoring confusion in the Chimese chiefdom of Luapula province.

Ignoring tradition and the already installed chief, Kalaba has instead imposed his preferred cousin as chief Chimese.

But even more surprising is that Kalaba, who is also the PF MP for Bahati has ‘introduced’ voting as a way of electing the chief instead of the matrilineal way that the people have been using from the time the chiefdom was established.

To protect the chiefdom from Kalaba and his puppets, chief Chimese and members of the royal family have sued the imposters. See the court summons
