Kalengo joins AC Leopards of Congo

Zesco United have confirmed that striker Winston Kalengo has left the club to join Congolese side AC Leopards with whom he has signed a one year deal.
Zesco United released the news through their official website, stating that the two clubs reached an agreement on Monday evening.
“The two clubs concluded talks this evening and the goal poacher is set to join his new club before 7th February when the league in that country starts,” said Zesco United CEO Justin Mumba.
“We are happy that among all the offers we got for the player he chose this one because it had the best conditions and as a club we will support him even as he settles at his new club.
“He has been an instrumental player in the years he has been here and we are happy that his hard work is paying off,” he said.
Kalengo spent five years at Zesco United where he won the Super League twice and the Barclays Cup once. He also won three league titles with Zanaco between 2005 and 2009.
Kalengo said he was emotional to leave the Ndola – based outfit although he is said to return to the club after his contract expires with AC Leopards.
“I have been here for five years and leaving home is like leaving a part of me although I feel I have played my part here and it’s time for me to move and try out a new challenge,” he said.
Kalengo helped Zesco United retain the league by scoring 18 goals leading to him winning the 2015 Zesco United and MTN FAZ Super League’s player of the year awards.
