Kalu hails great team effort

FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya has hailed Chipolopolo’s CHAN Group D win over Zimbabwe stressing that it was important for the boys to “give a good performance on the opening day”.
Kalusha also hailed the manner in which the squad adapted to the challenge that the Zimbabwe Warriors posed and the leadership exhibited by the experience of skipper Chris Katongo and Isaac Chansa.
The FAZ president who is executive committee member of FAZ and CHAN 2016 CAF Head of venue for Rubavu told Fazfootball.com that Zambia can now build from the win over Zimbabwe and progress through the championship.
Isaac Chansa’s second half strike proved decisive at the Umuganda Stadium as Zambia triumphed over its southern neighbour.
“It was a great team effort and it was important for the boys to give a good performance on first day, It has always been tricky in the opening tournament games, but I’m happy that the boys adapted well to the challenge,” Kalusha said adding: “Leadership on the pitch was critical and we got the 3 points we were looking for. Now let us build from here.”
Zambia now takes on Uganda on Saturday at the same venue and concludes group play with a date against Mali in Kigali next week. A win over the Cranes at the weekend could all but guarantee Zambia a place in the knock out stage.
