A scheme to make Kalusha Bwalya life president for the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is being planned ahead of the non elective Annual General Meeting at Mulungushi Rock of Authority tomorrow.
Nchanga Rangers FC have proposed to amend the constitution so that only members that have served in the executive should be eligible to contest the presidency, and that all aspirants pay K25,000 nomination fees.
But the move, which is secretly being sponsored by Kalusha Bwalya and his supporters has been widely opposed by affiliates and soccer fans. Kalusha faces a tough challenge at the elective AGM next year so he wants to block any competitor.
Meanwhile sports minister Vincent Mwale told parliament that government has paid former Chipolopolo trainer Dario Bonnetti K3,289,731.40 after he took FAZ to FIFA for being unlawfully dismissed by the Kalusha led executive.
