Kalyalya elected to World Bank board

Former deputy Bank of Zambia (BoZ) governor of operations Denny Kalyalya under the MMD government has been elected executive director on the World Bank (WB) board, representing 21 English-speaking countries in Africa.
Deputy Minister of Finance Miles Sampa said in an interview here yesterday that Dr Kalyalya will hold the position for the next four years.
“Africa is represented by executive directors on the World Bank board. There are two representatives, one for English-speaking countries and another for Francophone countries and on the English-speaking constituency, there are 21 countries,” Mr Sampa said.
He said Dr Kalyalya has been serving as alternate executive director of the Africa Group One constituency at the World Bank but took over the position formally yesterday, for the next four years.
