Kambwili has ordered ZNBC management to suspend Zambia Union of Broadcasters and other Information Disseminators general secretary Martin Maseka.
Maseka who is accused of mobilised other workers has already been suspended and may be eventually fired.
Last week, Kambwili told ZNBC and Copperbelt University workers that he would fire them if they continued to be on strike.
But Vice-president Inonge Wina overruled Kambwili and told parliament that it was not government’s position to fire the workers.
Kambwili, the information minister, on Thursday said the decision to fire CBU lecturers and ZNBC workers was not his but the government’s position, which he merely communicated. But Vice-President Wina told the House that the government was working to address the issue of the striking lecturers as well as the ZNBC impasse. “Definitely, the lecturers and ZNBC workers won’t be fired. Issues at hand are to do with labour laws and the CBU council is in discussion with the Ministry of Labour and so I can’t preempt the result of the discussion. But action will be taken after the meeting,”
But to show Inonge Wina that she is nothing in PF, Kambwili has started the process of firing workers.
Workers at both CBU and ZNBC are protesting against bad leadership which has lead to poor working conditions.
