Kambwili orders pupils to clean hospital sewer pipes without protective clothing

The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Luanshya on the Copperbelt has condemned Roan Member of Parliament CHISHIMBA KAMBWILI for directing school Managers at three schools in Roan Constituency to release 600 pupils to go and clean Roan General Hospital.
Copperbelt Information Publicity Secretary KENNEDY KALUNGA said Mr KAMBWILI employed doctorial tendencies by asking pupils to unblock sewer lines and cleaning of hospital surroundings without protective clothing.
Mr KALUNGA said the law maker erred because he also warned school managers to abide by the directive failure to which they risk being punished.
He said Zambia being a democratic state Mr KAMBWILI would have used sober language when asking for a favour from the three schools namely Mpatamatu, Roan and Twashuka high schools respectively.
Mr KALUNGA said school managers were also told by the MP to feed the pupils who were mandated to unblock sewer lines and the cleaning of the hospital surroundings.
He said the law maker should have lobbied for funds from parliament through the Ministry of Health to clean the health institution.
Mr KALUNGA said competent people should be employed by the Ministry of Health to do all the cleaning and unblocking of the sewer lines because pupils risk contracting communicable diseases.
He has called on teacher unions in the district to issue a statement to President MICHAEL SATA over the conduct of Mr KAMBWILI.
Mr KALUNGA said teachers are not supposed to supervise the cleaning of the sewer lines and unblocking of sewer lines because they were not trained for that.
