Kaonde chief says people can’t accept moving Solwezi to Copperbelt

Senior Chief Mujimanzovu of the Kaonde in Northwestern province is disturbed by the reports that government intends to realign Solwezi district to the Copperbelt province.

The senior chief said the report was unpleasant adding that if government goes ahead with the idea, there will   be a standoff with the people as they would not accept it.

Senior chief Mujimazovu said this when provincial minister Bert Mushala visited him at his palace on Tuesday.

Senior chief Mujimazovu also expressed concern over the absence of basic services such as telecommunication and the state of Kalulushi/Kalewa road that borders with his chiefdom.

He said it was unacceptable for his subjects to be walking 14 kilometers from their villages to the nearest anthill to access mobile phone network when the service has become a necessity for people and not a luxury.
