Kapiri Mposhi district commissioner Beatrice Sikazwe has criticized the corruption that has marred the recruitment of security guards and general workers.
MU recently advertised to recruit 28 security guards and 47 general workers but management officials have given the jobs to their close relatives at the expense of local youths.
The youths protested the move and complained to Sikazwe and central province minister Obvious Mwaliteta but management has remained defiant and have continued to employ their relatives. A Watchdog check at the institution found candidates being interviewed at the Engineering section on Thursday and Friday.
The university also indiscriminately terminated the contracts of all those who were employed earlier and denied them any chance of reapplying, leaving many youths unemployed.
The youths have also said that the PF government has been a let due to the government’s proven failure to address youth unemployment in all sectors.
