Kaputa man hangs himself over missing K50

A 34 year man of Kaungu Village in Chief Mukapa Katandula’s area of Kaputa district has committed suicide after losing K50 meant for fertilizer.
Benson Chabala 34, a farmer hanged himself yesterday in the bush behind his compound after efforts to find the K50 failed.

Chilunda Ward Councilor, Robert Chansa confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS in Kaputa today.
Mr. Chansa explained that the deceased who had budgeted K600 to buy fertilizer discovered that K50 was missing from the money and decided to ask the wife and other relatives if they had seen the money.
He explained that after everyone denied seeing the money, he was upset and warned them that he would kill himself if the money would not be
found.
The Councilor added that it was at this point that the deceased went to drink and after getting intoxicated went to the bush behind his compound with a rope and hanged himself to a tree.
Mr. Chansa said neighbors tried to rescue him by taking him to the nearest clinic but he died upon reaching the health post.
He expressed disappointment with the death of the man who he said used to have more money than the K50 he committed suicide for.
Mr. Chansa wondered why the man took his life over a K50 to add on a bag of fertilizer when he had already bought 12 bags of fertilizers.
