Kasama town in Northern province has become the latest place to be hit by serious mealie meal shortages affecting the country that started on the Copperbelt.
Sources in Kasama say the area has also been seriously hit by mealie meal shortage as all the key outlets had commodity by Monday.
A check revealed that key outlets such as Shoprite, Kasama Milling, PJT Supermarket and other leading shops had completely run out of the commodity by Monday.
People were wondering what authorities were doing as maize was just rotting in depots.
Some residents said that they were disappointed that instead of discussing about other developmental projects, the country has to reverse into talking about mealie meal, fuel and water shortages as well as power black-outs.
