A critical shortage of fuel has hit Kasama District.
A survey conducted by ZANIS at three (3) service stations in the District, today, revealed that the commodity was in short supply.
At Chintelelwe and Caltex filling stations both diesel and petrol had completely run out.
However, Olmac filling station had only one tank of petrol left while diesel was out of stock.
And some fuel attendants told ZANIS that they do not know when they will receive the fresh consignment of fuel for their service stations.
But the shortage of fuel in Kasama has resulted in motorists sourcing for the commodity from fuel vendors, who usually sell contaminated fuel to unsuspecting customers.
Meanwhile, there was commotion at Olmac filing station last night as motorists queued for the remaining fuel stocks.
However, most of drivers managed to re-fuel their vehicles but were quick to appeal to the government to urgently intervene in the fuel shortage to avoid their businesses from grounding to halt.
Recently, the Ministry of Energy assured the nation that it was working flat out to normalize the fuel supply in the country and urged motorists not panic over current fuel shortage.
