Kunda: stop talking about Solomon Musonda

VICE-PRESIDENT George Kunda has advised people to avoid talking about matters that are before the courts of law.

Referring to a case in which Chitambo member of Parliament Solomon Musonda is facing legal charges, Mr Kunda said it is important that people exercise caution in what they say about the matter.

The Vice-President was speaking during the MMD Serenje district card renewal exercise at the council hall in Serenje yesterday.

He said Dr Musonda is facing charges that would be heard before the Serenje Magistrates’ Court.

Mr Kunda said it is impermissible by the Zambian laws for people to talk about matters which are before the courts.

And the Vice-President has urged the MMD to work hard and retain the Milo ward seat which fell vacant after the death of MMD councillor Mwansa Nkandu.

He said Serenje is an MMD stronghold and that the party should not relent in its efforts to keep all the seats.

Mr Kunda said Government is determined to ensure that development gets to all parts of the country.
He said the government is building more high schools and a district hospital in Serenje.

Mr Kunda also said Government is considering the possibilities of expanding the Lushyashi power station in Serenje as a stimulant for development.

He said the multi-billion Kwacha project will be carried out by the Chinese and will benefit the district and the country as a whole.

The Vice-President donated K5 million to the party during the card renewal exercise.

He urged the party leaders to use the money for party mobilisation and administration.

At the same function, 22 people defected from the opposition Patriotic Front to join the MMD.

MMD Serenje Constituency member of Parliament Ackimson Banda assured the Vice-President that the district will continue being an MMD stronghold.

Mr Banda, who is also Central Province Minister, said the party in the district was launching what he termed ‘Wina Azalira 2010’ campaign. – ZANIS.
