Lawyer Sangwa barred from appearing in any court in Zambia

The judiciary has barred Lusaka lawyer and advocate of the High Court, John Sangwa SC, from appearing before any court in Zambia until further notice.

Sangwa has for the past few weeks been exposing the constitutional court’s failure to properly address the case of President Edgar Lungu’s eligibility to stand as president in 2021.

Sangwa has consistently exposed the members of the Constitutional Court of their being unqualified, practicing judicial bias and engaging in lawlessness.

The judiciary has complained to the Law Association of Zambia, but before the LAZ has investigated and come up with a position, the Judiciary has meted punishment on Sangwa.

Chief Registrar Officer and Director of Court Operations, Prince Boniface Mwiinga, stated that Sangwa will not be allowed to appear before any Court in Zambia until LAZ determines the case.

To begin with do you know the stipulations stated in the bill 10, if at all it would come to pass? Judges concourt will be appointed by president. The judiciary, more than any arm of the government is supposed to ensure the rule of law enforcement that includes governance principles. As it stands now,can someone point at 5things that can justify Zambia’s good governance system. It is very hard cause those principles are just on paper but through action, nothing is been done.

If you think the judiciary is impartial under this regime then you are either delusional or a myopic cadre.

The LAZ has provided guidance in terms of how lawyers should conduct themselves. They are free to criticize the judgments of judges but not to attack judges. By attacking judges, lawyers undermine the rule of law when they should be the last ones to do so. State Counsel Kongole Sangwa brought up in Mufulira should understand this better. If he thought the concourt judges were not qualified enough, he should have done something to stop them from being appointed or ratified by Parliament. He should also have ensured he never at all appeared before them. Now he is being stopped from appearing before them and will have to think of how else to make a living with his Indian girl friend he spends much time at Freshview lodges in Siavonga after having dumped his wife of many years.

What type of democracy is this where those in power only like to listen only to praises even when they are demonstrating to be very incompetent.

Our main concern should be that we have unqualified Judges at Concourt as revealed by Sangwa regardless of manner he did it. If he broke the rules of LAZ or Constitution he should be reprimanded accordingly however this does not mean the under qualified Judges should not be removed.
