Lawyer Malama reportedly dies on plane to India

Prominent lawyer Steven Malama is dead, the Watchdog has been briefed.

Malama, who has been Kagem emeralds mine board chairman is said to have died one on a plane.

Circumstances are not yet clear but details trickling in indicate that he died in-flight on a trip from India.

When the plane landed in Ndola, the crew discovered that he was dead but still rushed to a hospital where he was recorded as Brought in Dead.

Malama was a senior legal practitioner with Jacques & Partners. Apart from Kagem, he served as a director on various boards in different industries, including Professional Insurance Corporation Limited, Zambezi Portland Cement, Professional Assurance Company Limited, Chambishi Metals Plc, Luanshya Copper Mines and Kariba minerals.
