Leaders should develop spiritually-Chilekwa

Over three hundred Pentecostal church members in the Northern Conference were gathered for a 5day leadership workshop at Mt.Carmel Church in Mpika. The Leadership workshop is held annually in April with a chosen theme and various topics. Workshop participants are drawn from all spheres of leadership at regional and district levels which include pastors, deacons, and elders.
The theme for this year was enhancing the economy and among other topics being covered were ‘being faithful in money matters’ and ‘managing the church’. Workshop participants are drawn from the 6 districts in the region which include Mpulungu, Kasama, and Luwingu.
Speaking to Zambian Watchdog, Pentecostal Holiness Bishop Remmy Chilekwa said people are breaking down when they assume leadership because they come from nowhere. Chilekwa said it is important that those eyeing leadership positions are developed spiritually if the nation is to grow and be run effectively.
“Am very troubled as far as leadership in this country is concerned because anyone can become anything and people cannot point to where you came from or how you started,” Chilekwa said.
He argued that no one can run the nation or any institution without leadership, adding that this was the reason why his church is preparing leaders because God prepared Christ before he went to the helm of leadership.
The Bishop noted that there is need to impart the fear of God in leaders because wherever they are to be sent they should portray the fear of God at whatever leadership level.
