Media release by former Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) Copperbelt province chairperson Joseph Chilambwe on the forth-coming presidential by-election.
Having evaluated the performance of all political parties and their leaders in the last three decades, I now wish to make my assessment about which party is suitable to lead Zambia to prosperity.
Countrymen and women, the PF government has failed lamentably to steer the country to development. The MMD did its part but time came when arrogance and lack of respect for Zambians made them booted out.
Since the people of Zambia have tested the two big parties, it is time to trust another big party, the United Party for National Development (UPND) and its leader Hakainde Hichilema.
I therefore want to advise all Zambians, especially the voters on the Copperbelt province to avoid wasting their votes by trusting the PF or the MMD because they do not have any idea about how develop to the country.
It would be very wise to vote for the UPND and president Hakainde Hichilema because of his understanding of the economy and good leadership qualities. I am aware that there has been consistent lies to paint the UPND as tribal by political parties which are very tribal in the way they conduct their business.
May I urge the people to ignore these empty sentiments and vote for UPND which will promote national unity, good governance, agriculture and improve the economy for the benefit of every Zambian.
Additionally, it will be the waste mistake of a decade if Zambians voted for PF which has demonstrated to be a party of violence, a party which has no idea about economic development and most importantly, a party which has no policies for poor people.
This is the party which removed subsidies meant to benefit the poor by selling maize mill at lower prices. The PF has doubled the cost of food in the last three years. This means that if they are trusted with power again, they will treble the cost of food. Not only that, the PF government has increased the price of fuel.
Further we cannot continue entrusting the leadership of the country to the PF that has been recklessly borrowing without any plans on how to repay back the money.
The conduct of the PF leaders in their succession battles is also a typical behavior of people who never loved the late president Michael Sata and actually wished him dead.
It is clear that they wished him dead and were merely shading crocodile tears when they pretended to mourn him.
I therefore call an all peace loving Zambians to deeply reflect on what they want and so far there is no other choice than the UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.
