Lies, nepotism, tribalism, regionalism and racism have become part of Zambia’s culture
Zambians have become foreigners in their own land because the state of the nation today is one of strife and retribution while citizens have continued being subjected to unbridled political violence and other forms of harassment, says Heritage Party (HP) president Godfrey Miyanda.
Gen Miyanda said lies, tribalism, racism, regionalism and nepotism have sadly become part of Zambia’s philosophy and culture.
In his message to commemorate the Heroes and Unity Days which fall on July 1-2, Gen Miyanda said it was disheartening that first republican president Kenneth Kaunda had silently been watching Zambia adopt the philosophy of lies, tribalism, regionalism and nepotism.
Gen Miyanda said instead of condemning the vices, Dr Kaunda has been showering praises on those who had the power to rein in their violent thugs adding that his silence was urging the cadres to continue with their violent acts against other citizens.
“What is unity? Unity for what? The state of the nation today is one of strife and retribution. Zambians have become foreigners in their own land and those who are alive today are subjected to unbridled political violence and other forms of harassment,
” Additionally, lies, tribalism, racism, regionalism and nepotism are now part of our philosophy and culture while our founding heroes such as Dr Kenneth Kaunda are watching in the background, showering praises on those who have power to rein in their violent cadres,” Gen Miyanda said.
Gen Miyanda wondered how lies and a skewed history could bring people together in a country where divisions have become clear.
