A man from Spain and a Zambian security guard were on Monday night shot dead in Livingstone by armed robbers while another foreign nation is battling for her life after she was shot but survived.
Southern province police commissioner Brenda Mutemba confirmed the development in Livingstone on Tuesday.
Ms. Muntemba said that the shooting occurred at a known lodge along the falls way road around 21:00hours while the victims who were in the company of other were having dinner.
Ms. Muntemba named the deceased as Sergio Valle 48, a Spaniard by nationality, Jacob Chirwa 30, a Zambian and Marie-Noelle, French by nationality.
She said that Valle was shot on the neck he was on phone.
She said that the three bandits first shot the security guard who was at the entrance before proceeding to the terraces and restaurant where the clients were having their dinner from.
She said that all the clients were ordered by the three armed men to lay down and empty their pockets with whatever valuables they had and in the process the two foreign nation were shot.
Ms. Muntemba said that Sergio Valle was living and working in Zambia as a pilot for Batoka Sky while Marie-Noelle was also a living in Zambia.
She said that no arrests have been made but charged that the police are making headways to arrest the robbers.
The Police Commissioner has also urged taxi drivers who operate in the night to be alert and inform the police on any persons who looked suspicious.
Ms. Muntemba said that when such incidences happen to foreigners, it sends jitter throughout the globe on Zambia’s security.
