Load shedding: 200 lose jobs in Kafue

Kafue Steel Plant has laid off over 200 workers due to increased load shedding.

Company Technical Director Julius Kaoma said production has dropped from 10,000 tonnes per month to 3,000 tonnes due to excessive load shedding.

The plant consumes 25 megawatts of electricity making it the largest single user of electricity in Lusaka.

Hundreds of workers are being laid off from various companies across the country as a result of load shedding.
