Loadshedding leads to job losses at Lamasat


Lamasat International has terminated employment of dozens of its workers effective immediately.

According to termination of employment letters seem by the Watchdog, Lamasat explains that electricity Loadshedding has made it impossible for the company to run effectively.

The company further says that even under heavy loadshedding; the little available electricity is too expensive.

Lamasat also says fuel is too expensive in Zambia making locally produced goods unprofitable.

The company also says it’s still recovering from the impact of being placed under receivership by Atlas Mara earlier this year.
