Lozi traditional leadership says Barotseland is part of Zambia

The Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has said there is no provision for secession in the Barotseland agreement of 1964.

The BRE which is headed by the Litunga of Western province has also declared that Barotseland is part of Zambia.

This was said by Chief Inyambo Yeta when he presented a report to president Rupiah Banda of the Barotse National Council which has just ended.

Chief Yeta said the BRE has never advocated for violence to achieve any objective.

Currently a number of people are in prison charged with treason for trying to make Western Province secede from Zambia using violence.

Two people died in the fracas that ensued in January following the campaign to secede.
