Allow us space in your widely read newspaper to air our grievances over the award of a tender for the construction of a maternity wing at Kabushi clinic in NDOLA (tender no. is: CPPC/ORD/8/1/2012)which has been awarded to Down Town Investments of Luanshya.
We have come to learn that political influence played a major part in the awarding of this tenders to the said company because one of the directors to the said company is Member of Parliament for Luanshya Central. We have further come to learn that the first commercial and technical adjudication which awarded this tender to a reputable firm was overruled by Copperbelt Permanent Secretary and for this reasons we feel it was corruptly awarded. We are not saying politicians cannot do business but they should let the due process to take its course without any intimidations to the officers.
Further findings into this matter have revealed that the said Permanent Secretary is a relation to one of the Directors in the said company that was awarded the tender. It is for this reason that we write through your paper to ask the investigative wings to move in and ascertain how this tender was awarded and why the initial award was overruled.
