Luanshya riots as Lungu settles in Kitwe

As president Edgar Lungu settles in his new office in Kitwe, miners and residents of a near by town Luanshya have gone on riot..
Miners are rioting against low salaries, job losses and the general rising cost of living.
Some miners complain that they are now being paid as lowly as K900. The police were by 12:30 local time battling to defeat starving residents.
President Lungu is on the Copperbelt to resolve economic problems especially job losses in the mines. Here is one he has to solve urgently.

It seems the country is getting volatile.

This morning, scores of University of Zambia students were expected to be arraigned before judges on charges of rioting. The students from the university were rioting against hunger while studying as they are paid an average of $50 per month.

A few days ago, students at the Copperbelt University rioted due to failure by the government to resolve wrangles at the university. The Copperbelt University is still in limbo as lecturers have refused to resume work.
