Luapula chiefs want Lungu to put Kalaba as running mate

kalaba-4Traditional leaders in Luapula Province have put forward Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba as their preferred candidate for running mate to President Edgar Lungu.

Sources within the the PF and Luapula revealed that some of the Chiefs that met yesterday at a lodge owned by Deputy Health Minister Rapson Chilufya demanded that someone from Luapula Province would be the only suitable candidate for running mate with Lungu because of the region’s massive support for PF.

“Yes they met though others were missing but were told about the decision to support Lungu only if he put Harry Kalaba as the running mate and apparent successor to Lungu there after. We are not sure if they are sponsored by Kalaba himself but there is a strong resistance from here should Lungu settle for somebody else. The other name that was floated was that of former Zambia Revenue Authority Commissioner General Chriticles Mwansa who is also from the Mwata Kazembe thrown”, a source revealed.

Lungu is aware the agitation in Luapula and will travel that the Northern regions but the trip has been disguised as going to launch some Zesco project.

Sources say the chiefs will petition Lungu to have either Kalaba or Mwansa as the running mate and are not compromising on their demands.

PF insiders also revealed that Lunte MP Felix Mutati is largely considered as an outsider to just emerge from nowhere and takeover their party.

Inonge Wina the PF and Republican Vice-President has been dumped as the PF has decided that they do not need the Lozi votes but will just pretend to campaign there.

But the dumping of Wina is also a huge slap on the people of Western Province who supported PF during Michael Sata where the party is currently controlling the Mongu and other councils in the area.

There are other people fighting to be running mate especially with prophesies that if Lungu rigs the next elections, he will die soon after.
