Luapula jobless, school leavers unhappy with nepotism in recruitment of soldiers, police by PF

‘Relatives of ministers and wives in front please’

The School Leavers Association of Luapula province has called on government to consider coming up with an independent institution that will oversee the recruitments in the Zambian armed forces.
Association president Cephas Lusaka says the youth in the province are not happy with the manner in which the armed forces conducted their
recruitment.
Mr Lusaka alleged that the recruitment exercise in the Zambia Army, Police, and National where marred by corruption with nepotism being
more pronounced in the process of recruitment.
Mr Lusaka said this in a statement made available to ZANIS in Mansa today
He added that protests by the youths in some provinces could be as resulting from the concerns could be avoided if an independent body
was instituted in the recruitment.
He says Zambian youths were committed to developing the country as could be seen by the large numbers that turned up for recruitment.
He said it was sad that youths that come from poor families and cannot afford to pay college fees have missed an opportunity to join the
Zambian Armed forces.
