Besa Chimbaka the new minister for Luapula Province says he will remain focused and provide mature leadership amid criticism and politicization of his appointment.
Mr Chimbaka says he will not allow negative views and criticism to detract him from providing service to the people in Luapula Province.
Mr Chimbaka says he will ignore negative comments from Heritage Party leader Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda who has opposed his appointment.
Mr Chimbaka says he is now set to serve everyone in the province regardless of political affiliation.
Mr. Chimbaka was reacting to a story in Friday’s edition of one of the private Newspaper attributed to Brig. Gen Miyanda.
The new minister says he finds it difficult and hard to believe and accept that Brig. Gen. Miyanda could be among the people who are opposed to his appointment.
On Friday, General Miyanda was quoted stating that Chimbaka’s appointment is in bad faith.
The HP leader was also quoted as having said that “President Rupiah Banda’s appointment of Mr. Chimbaka is mischievous and ill advised.”
But Mr Chimbaka now says people politicising his appointment are just expressing their views and not those of the majority.
Mr Chimbaka says he however holds Brig. Gene. Miyanda in high esteem as a person who understands Christian values of peace and unity in a diverse background of people and therefore will not hit back at him.
Mr. Chimbaka believes that genuine politics is about patriotism to the country as a unified unit and serving people who elect a leadership rather than magnifying political affiliations.
