President Edgar Lungu will lose nothing if he dropped the majority of his Cabinet today because all has already been lost.
Zambians have lost confidence in the government and are looking for renewed hope in their very existence. The 3 wings of government namely the Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary do not give hope to ordinary citizens as they are now perceived as too for the protection and service of a few elitists in government and their inner circles.
When your Minister of Justice and the person you hail as your best Member of Parliament is clobbered by your own youths and the entire nation is thrown into excitement then you know that all is lost.
When your top Minister is acquitted of Corruption allegations and instead of applauding the judgement the general citizenry feels betrayed, then you know that all is lost.
When one of you biggest institutions of higher learning remains closed and you say you want your people to be educated then you know all is lost.
When you only attract the type of investors who are not welcome by your own people because of questionable dealings, then you know all is lost.
When your government led developmental projects become a source for organised corruption then you know all is lost.
When your Police Service is perceived as a Police Force which is at the mercy of your political thugs then you know all is lost.
When your Presidency is viewed as a liability and not an asset to the nation, then you know all is lost.
Mr. President, your boat has a number of huge holes and some of them are irreparable.
When you know that the only thing waiting to be lost is your votes then it’s time to make changes and hope to mend your ship or sink with the wreckage.
The people have spoken. The choice is yours.
