Lungu blocks HH from helping cholera victims

Edgar Lungu has ordered the ministry of health to reject any material support from the UPND meant to help fight the ravaging cholera outbreak.

Yesterday, UPND president Hakainde Hichilema announced that his party resolved to join efforts with the government by contributing materially to the epidemic.

“We have put in place a team that will be working in consultation with government health authorities that are combatting this cholera outbreak.

As a party, we have decided to commit ourselves to providing material support in fighting this outbreak which has so far claimed over 50 lives.

Further to our discussions with health authorities yesterday, we are waiting to hear from them on what we must make readily available to urgently support life. A team has been put together for this purpose,” HH said.

But the Watchdog has been informed that Edgar Lungu is unhappy with the UPND for this humanitarian gesture.

Lungu has therefore directed the ministry of health to ignore the UPND offer.

Lungu told the ministry to accept help from anyone else but UPND.

Lungu is happy with the cholera outbreak as he thinks it’s diverting people’s attention from his corruption and failure to run the country properly.

Lungu has even hired ‘experts’ from Israel to stop cholera when there are a lot of public health experts in Zambia.

We challenge minister of health Chitalu Chilufya to state whether he has responded to the UPND request on where and how they can provide the needed help.
