Lungu blocks HH from helping cholera victims

Edgar Lungu has ordered the ministry of health to reject any material support from the UPND meant to help fight the ravaging cholera outbreak.

Yesterday, UPND president Hakainde Hichilema announced that his party resolved to join efforts with the government by contributing materially to the epidemic.

“We have put in place a team that will be working in consultation with government health authorities that are combatting this cholera outbreak.

As a party, we have decided to commit ourselves to providing material support in fighting this outbreak which has so far claimed over 50 lives.

Further to our discussions with health authorities yesterday, we are waiting to hear from them on what we must make readily available to urgently support life. A team has been put together for this purpose,” HH said.

But the Watchdog has been informed that Edgar Lungu is unhappy with the UPND for this humanitarian gesture.

Lungu has therefore directed the ministry of health to ignore the UPND offer.

Lungu told the ministry to accept help from anyone else but UPND.

Lungu is happy with the cholera outbreak as he thinks it’s diverting people’s attention from his corruption and failure to run the country properly.

Lungu has even hired ‘experts’ from Israel to stop cholera when there are a lot of public health experts in Zambia.

We challenge minister of health Chitalu Chilufya to state whether he has responded to the UPND request on where and how they can provide the needed help.

Gentlemen and ladies, an opposition political party cannot propose to work with the Ministry of Health officials in dealing with the cholera outbreak, it is called “trying to get cheap political mileage.” Dear Zambians we have an elected government in place and the President is Edgar Lungu. its President Edgar Lungu and the PF government who have the responsibility to deal with the cholera outbreak with ministry of health officials. That’s the reason for the civil service and the government of the day. The Defence and Security force are in the streets fighting cholera because the President of Zambia Edgar Lungu has given a directive.

This ZWD hallucination is utterly ridiculous. All UPND need is merely organize whatever help they can offer like what others have done before them and take this help to Ministry of Health. UPND merely wants to politicize an issue which is devoid of politics.

It is wrong to deny anybody to assist in this disaster unless if you do not value human life. This is the point of departure with PF in the political arena. They have introduced toxic identity politics that are just about self preservation but for how long are you gonna cling to power on falsehoods, divisive politics, hatred and violence? Lungu is a black angel of death! If the UPND have resources to donate why not? Cholera is not separating the citizenry along party lines and it is an epidemic that the responsible ministry will continue monitoring beyond PF life in government thus any assistance the ministry can get from any persons or organizations must be welcome!

remember the issue of city market, stupid people thought of burning it for selfish reason, today we hear it has been sold to chines, fingers pointed at HH and UPND that he has sent people to do that even when he was in prison, your suggestion that they should donate them direct to the victims is a dead advise, even chickens with small brain wouldn’t dare, you want them again to say HH and UPND are spreading cholera? no way my friend, let the ministry of health allow and also examine everything so that there’s no finger pointing, when you fail function, you fail to do things right, you blame it on UPND and hide in politicking to confuse those illiterates in mandevu and chawama, people have no clean water in mtendere, in kanyama, yes cholera has been there all along but not at this rate, i hear that it has even been spread to malawi now, shame on you ba PF you have totally failed.

He is hateful and jealousy. Such is a very dangerous human being. To day’s politics is about working together for the betterment of the country. Where life is being lost, it is the duty of every Zambian to get involved if they can and HH is no exception. I hope the President has been misquoted. If it is true he has given those directives to the Minister not to collect any help from HH and the UPND, it is very unfortunate, unZambian, primitive, hateful and diabolic. It must be condemned by all well meaning Zambians across cultural, tribal, religion, race boundaries. Mr. President, do not treat HH as if he is not Zambian. He is a true son of Zambia and Africa. A man who has such high level of qualities, expressed in his character of forgiveness to those that persecute him. Bringing politics of hate into cholera epidemic where life is being lost is not acceptable. It will not make sense to receive help from outside (if we shall ever get that help) and leave out help from Zambians. Why should help from any other Zambian be accepted apart from HH and UPND?
    These are bad politics.

The UPND are using correct method of contributing to the fight against cholera by engaging the Ministry of Health officials. Donate directly to the affected families, do they know them? This is not only unusual but can amount to interference.
