So I read an article today that they are going to fix Lumumba road (finally) and it’s going to cost $240million. $240 MILLION.
In the article (pic 1), the Director of Communications said it was going to take 7 months to revamp the 146km stretch.
Lumumba….146km???? We googled the distance (pic 2) and Lumumba road is actually 7.2km. From Lusaka to Kabwe its 144 kilometres. How can Lumumba road which is just in Lusaka city be longer than the Great North Road from Lusaka to Kabwe?
Even if they constructed 8 lanes (being very optimistic here), it only comes up to 57.6 km.
If $240million/146km = $1.6m per km
Then 57.6km = ~$92million
Where has the additional $148m gone?
Is there another Lumumba road within Lusaka I don’t know about?
