Lungu defies Scott, says NEC will choose president

Patriotic Front Secretary General Edgar Lungu has defied party president Guy Scott and insisted that the Central Committee will select a presidential candidate.

In the morning, Scott said the party would have to go to the general conference in accordance with the party constitution.

And so far PF youth chapters in Lusaka, Muchinga, northern, Southern and Western provinces have demanded that the party president be chosen at a general conference.

But in a letter to Central Ciommitte members later in the day, Lungu said the central committee would select the candidate.

In a notice to all Members of the Central Committee, Lungu stated that the main agenda is filling of vacancy for party President.
