Lungu directs police to charge Kabwe UPND cadres with attempted murder

PF presidential candidate Edgar Lungu has directed police command in central province to charge UPND youths accused of assault and malicious damage with attempted murder.

Kabwe district youth chairman Ahmed Lubinga and two other youths Joseph Mwiinga and Neil Hacholi were arrested on Monday and detained in filthy cells. They were only brought before court today and given cash bail of K5,000 each. Disappointingly to Lungu the party in Kabwe raised the money and the youths released.

“Though these were just framed up charges but they were supposed to be charged with assault but we received directives to slap attempted murder and that we should only bring them to court Friday after noon, give them harsh bail conditions so that if they fail they should go to prison during the weekend holiday and only come next week Wednesday,” said a senior police officer.

Under similar circumstances Trevor Mwiinde, a UPND cadre of Lusaka was in 2015 arrested and unlawfully detained for aggravated robbery charges, after a spate of political violence sparked by PF thugs.
