President Edgar Lungu has dispatched senior directors from the Zambia Intelligence Services with money to influence the election results in Lubansesnhi and Solwezi west elections, while some two more buses carrying PF thugs arrived in Solwezi last night.
The named officers arrived in Solwezi and Lubansenshi last night and will work with PF functionaries, using the colossal money to buy off voters’ cards and in other incidences to bribe voters to vote for the PF candidates who have been rejected.
And in Solwezi, armed state policemen have been trailing UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to destabilise his party campaigns. In the trail vehicles are also some private vehicles being used by intelligence officers.
Yesterday, Mr. Hichilema’s vehicle was blocked on three occasions without any explanations as the armed PF police disembarked from their vehicles to harass the UPND supporters who became unruly but Mr. Hichilema pleaded with them not to retaliate. The UPND cadres were ready for a showdown with police and untold violence could have erupted to necessitate the postponement of the election.
Meanwhile two more buses with PF thugs with instructions to continue intimidating locals have arrived. Some thugs are armed with guns and other weapons but the locals have vowed to give them a show down should they try violence.
About two months ago, some Copperbelt thugs were terribly clobbered at Kalumbila mine when they made some tribal disparaging remarks against the local people.
