Lungu ditches Nkandu Luo as he props up Mumbi Phiri for Munali constituency

President Edgar Lungu is propping up her close ally and PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri to contest the Munali seat currently held by Professor Nkandu Luo.

Sources close to State house have disclosed that Luo has fallen out of favour as she is seen to be a Sata loyalist. This is Lungu’s continued exercise to completely do away with PF members seen to have been close to the late PF founder.

The source said that Lungu was deliberately flying around with Mumbi to enable her earn money in form of allowances for her forthcoming campaigns and to bribe PF officials and cadres.

The move has however shocked Luo who is now said to be courting the Orange Alliance for possible adoption to re-contest in Munali.

Mumbi Phiri was PF MP for Munali from 2006 to 2011 but because of her wayward behaviour she was not adopted in 2011 but sent to Kenya as high commissioner. She was later recalled for drunkenness and behavior not befitting a diplomat but soon after assuming PF presidency Lungu promoted her to her current position.

Last week Lungu refuted some claims that he was having a sexual affair with her but admitted that he knew her long before both became PF members when she was still single.
