Lungu gives partner Findlay contract to supply oil

The ministry of Energy has shortlisted seven companies to supply oil for 2018.

Emelda Chola, the permanent secretary in the Energy ministry has written to director of Intelligence (OP) to vet the shortlisted bidders.

But this is just to hoodwink the public as the tender has already been given to Edgar Lungu’s partner and drug lord Valden Findlay.

Findlay owns a company called Chrismar Earth moving equipment which is among the seven shortlisted bidders despite having no experience in supplying oil .

The successful bidder (Findlay) will supply 90, 000 metric tonnes of petrol and 240, 000 metric tonnes of diesel to the Zambian government.

According Chola’s letter to the OP, 40 companies participated in the bid last November but only seven listed in the document below have been shortlisted.

First of all, the unit of measure is cubic meters, not metric tonnes.

The world has excess refining capacity that we should take advantage of. Its cheaper for us to import finished product than refine it in Zambia. Zambia should shut down Indeni and use the pipeline to transport diesel and finished gasoline. This would save millions of dollars every year.
