Newly elected president Edgar Lungu is today scheduled to start his medical holiday in Mfuwe, Luangwa National Park, Eastern province that will also see him thank Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe for his help in rigging the elections.
Lungu will also visit financiers in Angola and he will keep attempting to complete cabinet appointments while on medical holiday.
Lungu has been hypertensive, and diabetic plus a kidney failure for sometime now and was last week advised to seek further clinical investigation over his condition when he visited the hospital.
He has just been president barely two weeks, and the workload is too much as he has even failed to complete appointment of his cabinet despite having known most of his colleagues in the PF before.
He leaves behind a number of anxious former cabinet colleagues, such as Chishimba Kambwili, Nkandu Luo, Wilbur Simuusa, and others who are still waiting for jobs that were given to them by late president Michael Sata.
So far, he has only appointed those highly recommended by former president Rupiah Banda.
It is so far not clear how long Lungu’s medical vacation would take though he indicated seven days, but sources indicate that it would depend on the out-come of the medical investigations to be carried out by medical personnel from outside Zambia.
But Lungu, accompanied by his wife Esther and drinking mate Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula, denied going on vacation on medical grounds, claiming he was in good health.
Sources say there is also chance Lungu may even sneak out of the country for specialists examinations depending on his condition.
Lungu did not even campaign as much as his opposition colleagues as he kept cancelling and missing rallies in various parts of the country.
Several stakeholders have so far voiced concern over Lungu’s rushed holiday soon after robbing the presidency even before he settles down and puts a team to implement Sata’s vision since he has no vision of his own.
