Lungu grounds UPND campaign helicopters

Outgoing President Edgar Lungu has ordered the grounding of UPND campaign choppers through the Zambia Air Force Commander  (ZAF) Eric Chimense who is a PF cadre.
Highly placed sources within ZAF say so far Lungu has ordered that GBM’s choppers be grounded on the Copperbelt.
And UPND President Hakainde Hichilema’s choppers have also not been given clearance to fly to Luapula and Northern Provinces where he was being awaited for a series of meetings.
“We are aware that GBM was expected in Mukonchi, Central Province this morning, but Lungu has ordered that he should be denied flying permit despite earlier giving a go ahead”.
“The instructions are coming straight from State House as Lungu gives orders on where the opposition leaders must go and he is demanding for a complete and detailed flight path which they later cancel so that people on the ground get tired of waiting”.
“The best the UPND team must actually do is use more of the roads as flying will be tricky and dangerous. Already they have not had free space to campaign during the year due to Public Order Act and now Lungu will use all powers with his sitting ministers to frustrate the UPND leadership’s campaign programmes”.
“What is even worse is that Lungu cannot manage a strenuous campaign activities due to his health condition as a diabetic patient so he would not want his opponents to also cover alot of ground”, sources revealed.
